Nishiyama Mutsugaoka (西山慕情ヶ丘)
Located in Shima City, Nishiyama Mutsugaoka is one of the finest viewpoints for taking in the evening panorama of Ago Bay. It has also been certified as one of the 100 Best Sunsets in Japan (2000) (Nihon no Yūhi Hyakusen), selected by the NPO Japan Islands Sunset and Asahi no Satozukuri Association.
As the sun sinks, it bathes the small islands scattered across Ago Bay and the pearl rafts floating on the waves in a deep madder red—an unforgettable beauty beyond words.
