Nokogiriyama is like a natural museum, renowned for its uniquely shaped rock formations and beautiful scenery.
The ropeway is used year-round by visitors in every season. The oblique distance between the stations at the foot and the summit is 680 meters, and cabins operate every five minutes.
At the summit station building, you’ll find:
- An observation restaurant
- A free rest area
- Telescopes
- A souvenir corner
- Children’s games, etc.
From the mountaintop, you can see Mt. Fuji in fine weather.
Historical materials related to stone cutting on this mountain are also exhibited here. The mountain is fascinating for its very shape—along with breathtaking views of Tokyo Bay and the deep greens of the surrounding Bōsō Hills from the summit.
On the opposite side of the mountain is a temple called Nihonji. In its garden, you can see the largest stone Buddha images.
You can also enjoy a 1.5-hour round-trip hike between the summit station and the garden, including time to walk around the garden.
