A four-person masu box booked for two turns a tight tatami square into a private lounge — legroom, cushions arranged, shoes handled at the edge.

Premium sumo seating is three different products — proximity, tradition, and comfort in different measures. The right one depends on who is sitting in it.
Ringside
Tamari-seki
On the cushions at the clay's edge, nothing between you and the bout — the rarest tickets in the building, largely held by sponsors and patrons. Thrilling, and famously within range of a falling wrestler.
First floor
Masu-seki, booked wide
The traditional tatami box seats four; we book it for two. What is cramped for four becomes a private first-floor lounge for a pair — the immersion of the box with room to actually enjoy it.
Comfort
VIP chair seats
Western-style chairs in limited premium sections — the view without hours on the floor, and the right answer for longer viewing or anyone who prefers a backrest.
Tamari inventory is genuinely scarce and moves through long relationships — we confirm what is actually available for your dates before anything is promised, and say so plainly when a tier is out of reach.

Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan holds the January, May, and September tournaments; Osaka takes March, Nagoya July, Fukuoka November — fifteen days each. Send your travel dates and party by WhatsApp, LINE, or email.

Options are sourced from allocation inventory and confirmed against your dates, with a fixed quote in writing — the seat you approve is the seat you sit in.

The day is planned
Pickup timed for a three-o'clock arrival — the ceremonial entrances, then every top-division bout — with the guide briefed on your interests before the first door opens.

Sumo, then chanko
The final bouts close near six; the car is at the door, and the chanko-nabe table is already held — the wrestlers' hot pot to end a wrestlers' day.

Why can't I buy the best sumo seats online myself?+
The majority of the best seats are held through tea houses with generational connections to the sumo world and sold privately to long-standing customers — they never appear on the public websites. Public sale for the remaining seats opens about a month before the tournament and sells out almost instantly. We source from the private side of that market and handle every step in Japanese.
When and where are Grand Sumo tournaments held?+
Six honbasho a year, fifteen days each: Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan in January, May, and September; Osaka in March; Nagoya in July; Fukuoka in November. If your dates miss Tokyo, the same hosted day can be arranged in the other three cities.
What time should we arrive at the arena?+
Around three in the afternoon. The top-division ring-entering ceremony follows at about a quarter to four, the yokozuna's entrance minutes after that, and the final bouts run to six — the ceremonial highlights and every major match, without a full day on the cushions.
What is the difference between tamari and masu seats?+
Tamari are the ringside cushions at the clay's edge — the rarest and closest, with nothing between you and the bout. Masu are the traditional first-floor tatami boxes seating four; booked for two, a box becomes a comfortable private space. Limited VIP chair sections offer Western seating for anyone who prefers a backrest.
Is there a dress code or etiquette we should know?+
Smart casual suits the premium sections. Shoes come off in the boxes and at ringside, the crowd falls silent in the instant before the charge, and cheering a wrestler by name is welcome — your guide coaches all of it in the moment, so nothing needs memorising.
Can the sumo day fold into a wider Japan itinerary?+
Yes — the tournament day slots into a tailor-made journey, with the same chauffeur carrying you onward and each host city adding its own table: Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka all keep local specialities worth planning around.
